AUSTRALIAN Permanent Resident (PR) VISA – General Skilled Migration
Under the General Skilled Migration (GSM) programs, an applicant can apply for a Provisional or Permanent Resident Visa under Subclass 189, 190 & 489. Through these options, Skilled Workers can live and work in Australia for an indefinite period. After having met all the requirements, Skilled Workers can apply for Australian Citizenship as well. General Skilled Migration is a point-based program, and points are awarded based on different factors such as Age, English Language Skills, Work Experience (outside Australia), Work Experience (inside Australia), Education (outside Australia), Education (inside Australia), Knowledge of Community Language, Studying and Living in Regional Australia, Spouse Skills and Sponsorship points from the State Territory Nomination and Relative Sponsorship. One can only qualify when a minimum of 60 points have been scored.
This process is divided into three stages:
- The first stage of the process is Skill Assessment
- The second stage of the process is filing EOI (Expression of Interest).
- The third stage is receiving a lodging application with DIBP. The list of professions who are eligible to apply for this category are mentioned in the Skilled Occupation List (SOL).
Some Important Points elaborated
-
Qualification Assessment
To apply for Australian Immigration – skill based GSM Visa the first & foremost step is to get your Education Assessment Done. In almost all cases the assessment bodies will require you to have post-secondary diploma or degree or trade qualification with the combination of a post or pre-secondary experience in a rare scenario no experience. After receiving a positive skill assessment you will be eligible to submit your application with DIBP and enter into skill select pool.
You can nominate only one occupation while applying with DIBP & you will not able to change your occupation once you are invited or once you receive an invitation from the Department of immigration and border protection Australia. To Nominate and select an occupation is a hard nut to crack this is where Asta Achievers experts will be guiding & advising you the best ANZSCO code as per your experience & education. There are other various other factors we need to keep in mind before we carefully choose our ANZSCO Code like States Sponsoring your occupation MLTSSL or STSOL.

Apply My EOI
You may be eligible to Apply for EOI, you need to have a positive skill assessment, your profession should be nominated in MLTSSL or STSOL, also you must have passed the 60 point test (skill Select), and have basic eligibility for the state-sponsored visa if required.
For the points based skilled migration programs, such as the Visa Subclass 189 190 489, you will be ranked according to your score on the appropriate points test. You will be able to complete an EOI even if you do not meet the pass mark, however, you will not be eligible to be invited to apply for a visa.
After submitting your EOI, you will be shown the points score but you will not be able to view your ranking position because your ranking will change as people enter and leave skilled.
To submit or to apply for an EOI is free, but you must be very careful and take proper caution while filling up forms or giving any information to DIBP (Department of Immigration and Border Protection Australia), as any misleading or fake information will not only lead to rejection of your visa application but in some cases applicants have been banned to apply a new visa application for 10 years or more.
